The context

What website development actually involves

A website is not a brochure — it is the first sales conversation most prospects will have with your business. We design and build sites around the decisions your visitors are actually trying to make: is this company credible, does it solve my problem, and what happens if I get in touch?

Every build starts with structure and content, not decoration. We agree the page hierarchy, the message on each page and the action each page should drive before a single component is written, then engineer the front end so it stays fast on a mid-range phone and works for keyboard and screen-reader users.

Problems this solves

  • The site looks fine but does not generate enquiries

Traffic arrives and leaves. Usually the cause is unclear messaging, weak page hierarchy or a buried call to action — not the visual design. We rebuild the journey so each page answers one question and offers one obvious next step.

  • Content is locked behind an outdated CMS or developer

Every text change becomes a support ticket. We ship editable content structures so your team can update pages, publish articles and add case studies without touching code.

  • Slow, fragile pages that break on mobile

Heavy themes, unused plugins and unoptimised images cost you visitors and search visibility. We build lean front ends with reserved image dimensions, responsive layouts and no layout shift on load.

  • No clean foundation for marketing

Analytics, pixels and conversion tracking get bolted on later and never quite work. We define the tracking plan and page structure at build time so SEO and paid campaigns start from solid ground.

Why it matters

Business benefits

A clearer buying journey

Each template is built around a single conversion goal, so visitors move from problem to proof to enquiry without guessing what to do next.

Faster pages and better Core Web Vitals

Optimised images, lean JavaScript and sensible caching reduce load time — which affects both bounce rate and how search engines evaluate the experience.

An asset you own

On final payment, the site, content and code are handed over to you with documentation. No proprietary lock-in and no dependency on us to keep publishing.

Process

How the engagement runs

  1. Step 1

    Discovery and scope

We map your services, audience, competitors and the commercial goal of the site, then agree page inventory, features and what is explicitly out of scope.

  2. Step 2

    Structure and copy

Wireframes and content outlines come before visual design. We write or restructure the page copy so the layout has something specific to hold.

  3. Step 3

    Design and build

Designs are produced for real breakpoints, reviewed with you, then built as reusable components. You see staging previews as pages are completed.

  4. Step 4

    Launch and handover

We run QA, set redirects, verify tracking, check metadata and accessibility, then hand over documentation and editor access.

What kind of site do you actually need?

A focused landing page is often the right first investment for a single offer or campaign: one message, one audience, one conversion. A corporate website earns its cost when you need several service pages, credibility content and clear pathways for different buyer types. E-commerce adds catalogue structure, payments, shipping rules and product-level SEO. Custom web applications are justified when you need logged-in dashboards, quoting tools, portals or workflow automation that off-the-shelf software cannot express.

We recommend the smallest build that meets the commercial goal, and tell you when a bigger one is unnecessary. Scope, timeline and price follow directly from those decisions — there is no fixed package that fits every business.

Performance, accessibility and search foundations

Performance is a build decision, not a plugin. We constrain third-party scripts, serve properly sized images in modern formats, defer non-critical JavaScript and avoid layout shift by reserving space for media. Accessibility is treated the same way: semantic landmarks, labelled form fields, visible focus states, sufficient colour contrast, keyboard-operable menus and reduced-motion support are part of the build checklist, not a later audit.

Technical SEO is included in every build — clean URLs, one clear H1 per page, descriptive titles and meta descriptions, canonical tags, an XML sitemap, robots directives, breadcrumb and organisation structured data where accurate, and a redirect map for any URL that changes.

How pricing is determined

Website pricing depends on the number of unique page templates, whether copywriting is included, e-commerce or application complexity, integrations with existing systems, content migration volume, and the timeline required. We quote a fixed project fee once scope is agreed, and list assumptions explicitly so change requests can be priced rather than absorbed silently.

What we do not promise

  • We do not promise specific traffic, ranking or revenue outcomes from a website build — those depend on marketing activity, market conditions and how your offer performs.
  • Timelines assume timely feedback and content supply from your side; we will flag a slipping deadline as soon as it is visible rather than at delivery.
  • Third-party costs — hosting, domains, paid themes, plugins, payment gateway fees, stock licensing — are separate from our professional fee unless stated in the proposal.

How pricing works

Fixed-fee project quotes after scope agreement. Typical engagements are structured in milestones.

Advertising spend, platform subscriptions and third-party licences are paid by you directly and are always shown separately from our fee.

Questions

Website Development FAQ

Yes. We audit the current site first and recommend the lowest-risk path: targeted fixes, a redesign of specific templates, or a full rebuild if the platform is actively limiting performance and marketing.

The more specific the context, the more useful the first reply. Useful things to mention:

  • What the business sells, and to whom
  • What is not working right now
  • Any deadline or budget range already agreed internally
